Relief Pitcher

Pete Conroy is a swift utility infielder who has made it to the big leagues after doing his time in the minors. Unfortunately, a run-in with his team’s self-centered showboat and new star ends up with him injured and sent back down to the low minor leagues as a manager-player. There, he begins to experiment with pitching, first only to spell the young arms on his team, but later as a more serious pursuit and possible way back up the bigs. Conroy’s attempt is met with skepticism, but the season—and his career—take some unexpected twists from that point.
