The Palmetto passion : a historical analysis of the Church of God of Prophesy in South Carolina

Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Doctor of Ministry Thesis-Project Abstract: This thesis sought to discover the beginnings, organization, development, and growth ofthe Church ofGod ofProphecy in South Carolina, and to identify key people, places, and events that were pivotal in this Pentecostal denomination's significant genealogy. The author used extensive archival research, review of existing literature, and interviews ofeyewitnesses and participants to compile pertinent data. The research uncovered a 'sense ofurgency' that motivated undereducated itinerate 'preachers' to travel from house to house with the goal of preaching the whole Gospel message leading the denomination to become an active participant in the Wesleyan HolinesslPentecostal movement.
