Life in the new diamond diggings

"Excellent, firsthand account of both dry & wet diggings, how done, recovery of diamonds, problems in the dry, ie, kimberlite, diggings, miner's habits & customs, natives, etc. Important early account with attractive, lively engravings showing scenes, diggings, miners at their labor, etc."--Gemology by J. Sinkankas, entry no. 4482. Author is writing from Du Toit's Pan, and also mentions Alexandersfonteâin, Bultfontein and "Vooruit Zigt" commonly known as De Beers.
