Black Blizzard

a one-volume crime noir manga written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Tatsumi, first published by Hinomaru Bunko in November 1956. The story follows Susumu Yamaji, a young pianist arrested for murder, who becomes handcuffed to a hardened criminal during transport before a train crash lets them escape into a violent snowstorm. Their flight through the mountains becomes a tense survival thriller built around panic, guilt, unlikely friendship, and Tatsumi’s early move toward the darker cinematic style later called gekiga.
