Each emblem consists of a motto (most of them Latin, a few French or Greek), a woodcut ill., and an explanation in French. Emblems include the devices of kings and rulers, symbols from the Bible and classical history, etc · Dedication dated "ce quinzieme ianuier 1556." Second ed.
