LONDON, Printed for A. and J. Churchill, at the Black Swan in Pater-Noster-Row. MDCCI. Bibliographics: It is the merit of Christine MacLeod (1983) [1] to have solved the riddle regarding the authorship of this essay. In the papers of John Locke Ms MacLeod found a letter addressed to Locke, dated 1701, from the publisher of the ‘Considerations’. The letter, written at the request of Martyn and accompanied by a copy of the ‘Considerations’, stated that Martyn wanted to present the Essay to John Locke. A second edition of the ‘Considerations’ was published in 1720 under the title: The advantages of the East-India trade to England consider'd : wherein all the objections to that trade with relation, I. To the exportation of bullion... II. To the loss of employment... III. To the abatement of rents, are fully answer'd : with a comparison of the East-India and fishing trades. A reprint of the first edition is included in: A Select Collection of Early English Tracts on Commerce from the Originals…. Published by the Political Economy Club (1856) and edited by J.R. McCulloch (pp 541). [The 1859 edition of this title is available as Community Text - https://archive.org/details/cu3192403015696
