Royalties accrue from the first sale. Payment is made once all 1,000 copies of the first edition have sold. Royalties do not start at copy 1,001: the amount accrued on the first 1,000 sales is included in the payment.
With Amazon’s print-on-demand model, “a first edition of 1,000 copies” describes the payment threshold for this initial sales period; it does not promise that 1,000 books will be printed and stocked in advance.
This is the royalty NiceBooksReads pays its author, separate from Amazon’s payment to the publisher and from the USD 500 publishing service fee. The team checks completeness, readership, language and format eligibility, and publishing rights. Missing chapters, image-quality issues and permission evidence are requested inside the project. Assessment is not an acceptance guarantee; an unsuitable application can be declined with a recorded explanation.
Before payment, the proposal sets out the agreed manuscript, deliverables, revision scope, timetable, royalties and reporting, territories, payment and cancellation conditions. The base service fee is USD 500. Accept the specific terms version explicitly; uploading a manuscript does not silently transfer copyright.
The team states the payment method, settlement currency, amount and applicable tax in writing. Applying never charges a card. Only authorized finance staff can record a verified payment after checking actual evidence. The project also shows editorial and design assignments and the target date.
The manuscript is edited for clarity, consistency, spelling and punctuation, with revised text delivered as a separate version. Professional illustrations for children’s books are included without an extra charge. Style, scenes, rights and deliverables are agreed before work begins; unlimited artwork or revisions are not promised.
Cover and interior files are prepared for the selected format. Title pages, copyright details, chapter structure, contents, trim, bleed and image placement are reviewed. Print and eBook files are different deliverables. You can download the final proof, cover and publication information for inspection.
Review the text, design, description, list price, keywords and rights territories; request corrections where needed. Approval is tied to specific files and metadata. Changing either invalidates it. The authorized team submits through our own publishing account; you do not share an Amazon password.
Submission, review, publishing, blocks and correction requests are separate recorded states. Amazon’s decision and timing are not guaranteed. Once the actual result is recorded, the store link and book identifier appear. Later change requests stay in your history and never trigger automatic unpublishing or resubmission.
Language, format and distribution

Website language and manuscript language are different. Some languages support only eBooks or only print. Yiddish hardcover requires left-to-right layout. Right-to-left standard-colour paperbacks require separate store eligibility review.
