The ongoing battle of human against microbe has a legacy starting from the dawn of humankind and has been heightened by increased knowledge. Though we have many friendly interactions with microorganisms, there is little fondness for these invisible cohabitants. We totally understood that the magnitude of issues connected to disinfec- tion and decontamination could not be covered by a single book. Our objective in preparing this book was to further advance the knowledge of disinfection and decontamination in all walks of human life: through principles, applica- tions in the form of devices, and governing issues such as regulatory and legal, and to pool various ideas under one platform. This book is unique in that it provides the knowledge of 34 experts in their fields rather than a single author. Moreover, it covers more sophisticated and practical topics.
