This is a book from Math Workshop — a 1960s elementary school math curriculum. See below for a full list of archived books in this collection. Here’s a description of Math Workshop from the introduction: “Mathematics is a world of endless fascination. It is a world brimming with surprises, patterns, and enticing vistas. To see a pattern emerge from a conglomeration of facts, to organize seemingly disconnected ideas — these are some of the joys of learning mathematics. It is this sense of excitement in mathematics that MATH WORKSHOP wants pupils to experience in elementary school. “To accomplish this, MATH WORKSHOP puts its major subject matter emphasis on basic principles and unifying ideas which tie together the facts and manipulative procedures of arithmetic. This emphasis simplifies the subject, makes it understandable, insures recall, and increases interest. Our major pedagogical emphasis is on teaching for discovery. We present content to pupils so that they are challenged to think about relationships, to look for patterns and clues, to draw logical conclusions for themselves, and to invent their own ways of finding answers. Math Workshop was reimplemented by the Think Math! c
