This is the reference manual for the line-based text-editor ZED. ZED was available on the Phoenix computing facility (an IBM 3084Q) at the University of Cambridge Computing Service in the 1980's and 1990's. ZED's command syntax was in many ways more flexible than contemporary line editors (like ed(1) or EDLIN). Its regular expression syntax was powerful, but not UNIX-like, and its search expressions were superior to contemporaries. The manual is excellent and a model of technical documentation.
