This book was referenced by Ludwig Fuerbringer's son Alfred in a letter to Joel Pless which was included in Pless's essay " Cancer at Concordia ", p. 106-107. The following was A. Fuerbringer's words: "My father, Ludwig Fuerbringer, who was a well-known and respected teacher at Concordia Seminary for over half a century (1893-1947), in his Introduction to the Old Testament (1925) has the following statements concerning the Pentateuch: This does not imply that Mo­ses wrote the whole work singlehanded" ( P. 20 ); and "he undoubtedly utilized both the oral tradition authenticated by the great age of the forefathers and patriarchs and the then existing writings (ibid); also, "he likewise, no doubt, availed himself of assis­tants from among the priests, Levites and elders, particularly in writing the laws" ( P. 2l ); furthermore, "Deut. 32 - 34 and perhaps also 31, 24 - 30 are to be regarded as appendages to the book" ( P. 19 ).
