This is the book edition of my PhD thesis which focussed on the relationship between epistemology, democracy, and the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge. I argue that the theses of communitarian epistemology both accurately describe the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge and that if adopted will render science more conducive towards democratic citizenship.
